kate and paul get married brooklyn
  • we met....

Paul and I met in 2001 at a party he was throwing, a few weeks after starting my 1st year at the Savannah college of Art and Design. I walked over to introduce myself and complement him on his t-shirt(which by the way said "OceanSpray" and he still has to this day). He asked for my number but I didn't know it(new phone), so I got his instead. I finally got the courage to call and we met up the next weekend at a Halloween party. I think the real moment I knew we had something different, I mean special, occured on this same night in the wee hours of the morning at an I.H.O.P. on Savannah's south side..... Billy Joel's "We didn't Start the Fire" came on came on....Paul and I started to sing, knowing all of the words, as our friends looked at each other thinking "these kids are crazy....and wierd". After two years of long distance dating, following Paul's graduation in 2003, I moved to NYC in 2005. Paul proposed last November and we're getting married. The end.

    the proposal

It was Saturday Nov 1st, a perfect fall day, so Kate I got sandwiches and headed to Prospect Park. I was riding through the park months earlier and found this really great spot, similar to the “Boat House” in Central Park – beautiful old building, pond, bridge, little mechanical boats, the whole thing. I've told Kate about it, but she'd never been, so we headed in that direction. It was as perfect as I'd remembered it. We hung out on the bridge for a while, watching an Asian wedding party take photos(something you always see - weird). I think I remember saying something about how happy I was that we'd been together for 7 years(wow) , etc. etc. I thought it might be fun to take some pictures, so I reached down into my bag for the camera, but instead pulled out a little blue box.....it starts to get a bit fuzzy right around here, but I'm pretty sure Kate said yes(although it was hard to hear through all the crying). We bought a bottle of champagne on our way home, had a glass(or two) and then proceeded to call the parents. That evening we had dinner at this little Italian restaurant in our neighborhood to celebrate.
